Borland Lodge

15-19 February 2021

The Lodge is located right on the edge of Fiordland National Park and World Heritage Area, and provides a different opportunity to explore this magnificent area of bush and mountains. It is very well appointed with modern facilities.

While we are there we will be self sufficient, involve ourselves in some superb day trips of varying grades, some quite demanding, some easy, in a similar fashion to our trips in the Catlins and Aspiring. As usual, all activities are optional. It is a good spot for a relaxed holiday for those who wish this. Green Lake Track (5 - 6 hours return),  for many, this is the highlight of the whole trip, with its contrasting and varied landscapes of beech forest, tussock valleys and the pristine waters of Green Lake.

It is essential that everyone has a good level of fitness and are well-equipped for what can often be very wet conditions as this will make the trip more enjoable for you.

The Lodge is situated 66km from Te Anau and 55km from Tuatapere, in Southern Fiordland, near Lake Monowai. Meals are of an “Aspiring or Catlins” standard, and accommodation is in modern bunkrooms and chalets. The kitchen and social rooms are well equipped, large and spacious, with power laid on. As happens so often on our trips, the social aspect is a great drawcard, and many friendships are formed while sharing some adventures in an “away from it all” environment.

TRANSPORT. Our bus will leave from outside the Leviathan Hotel, Dunedin at 9am on the first day. We can pick people up at Dunedin Airport, provided they arrive by 9am, and on the last day drop them off at the airport for flights after 5pm.
