SUTTON
CAMP ON THE STRATH-TAIERI, ANOTHER NEW
TRIP It’s great
to see so many of you returning time and time again for another trip. We feel
that you would enjoy the “Sutton Experience”, situated on the Strath Taieri, close to Middlemarch, in iconic Central Otago. Those who
have participated in our 3-4 day trips on the Otago Central Rail Trail cycle
trips will already know this delightful spot as it is the “first night” stay on the Cycle Trail. . We reach it after the 2 hour
train trip from Dunedin, on what is often classed as “one of the world’s
great train trips” . We plan to
stay at Sutton for 4 nights, participating in a number of varied activities.
Those that wish, can spend a day cycling on the
unique rail trail (Cycles can be hired for a day). There is an easy tramp to
the “Salt Lake”, another one to the “Crater”, and for the more enterprising
ones, a climb to the top of the 4,500 foot Rock & Pillar range, and a
number of other good attractions including sunbathing !. Sutton Camp (owned by Otago Youth Adventure
Trust), is well equipped, with good facilities, on par with Tautuku ,
Berwick & Borland Lodge. Dates: Thursday
March 22 – leaving Dunedin Railway Station at 2. 15pm. |
Remember, Most trips fill up
fast, it’s a case of ‘first in first served’.
